One of the most important machines we use is the High-Frequency Oscillator Ventilator, specifically the SLE 5000. This ventilator is used when regular ones are not sufficient. It provides gentle and rapid breaths, which are especially effective for babies with severe lung conditions. In many cases, it has proven to be life-saving.

To support accurate and timely diagnosis, our NICU is equipped with point-of-care sonography and echocardiography. These bedside tools allow doctors to quickly assess the baby’s heart and internal organs without needing to move them, which is critical for unstable or fragile newborns. These tools help in managing conditions like PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus), PPHN (Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn), and other heart or lung complications. We also use emergency brain scans to detect bleeding in the brain, a common concern in very premature infants.

For babies who have experienced birth asphyxia (lack of oxygen during birth), we offer servo-controlled therapeutic hypothermia. This advanced cooling system gently reduces the baby’s body temperature to protect their brain from further damage. This treatment has shown to improve long-term outcomes and give babies a better future.

We also use a Cerebral Function Monitor (CFM), which tracks the baby’s brain activity 24/7. This helps us detect seizures and monitor brain function, particularly in babies with neonatal seizures or brain injuries. Early detection through CFM allows our team to begin treatment promptly and make better-informed decisions for care.

Our commitment to safety extends beyond the NICU itself. Yashonandan Hospital also offers a specially equipped neonatal ambulance for the safe transfer of critically ill babies from nearby hospitals or homes. The ambulance includes a transport incubator, transport ventilator, syringe pumps, and monitoring systems to ensure that the baby remains stable and receives medical support throughout the journey.
